Vieux Télégraphe Châteauneuf-du-Pape blanc 2007 Extremely lifted upon opening: mandarin, white flowers, lemon. Powerful, long palate. Over a few hours, it closed up a lot and was less enjoyable.
Méo-Camuzet Frères et Soeurs Marsannay 2006 Awesome! Amazing for the appellation. Beautiful, lifted, juicy fruit. Modern style, deft oak handling. A pleasure to drink. Better than the 2005!
Domaine David Clark 2007s Looking very good, excellent acid and balance. 2007 looks like another pretty good year, if you go with good producers. Also took a peak at the 2008s which have great colour and a lot more acid than 2007. The Vosne looks excellent.
We tasted a few other wines not worth mentioning while discussing how to get funding in this climate to purchase one of the three prominent Gevrey producers being hawked around the place. There might be some sad Burgundy lovers soon…
